Generate Wiki Export List

All templatized PDM pages belong to the "PDMs" category. However, this is not a useful category to use for exporting pages to XML, because the category includes PDM pages for multiple products, as well as PDM-related templates, so you have to prune the export list carefully before you export. To pre-empt this time-consuming exercise, a template has been created, {{Template:PDM_GenerateExportList}}, to generate a list of URLs to copy into the Export Pages special page, for selective export of wiki pages to XML.

Generating the Export List

Use this page to call the {{Template:PDM_GenerateExportList}} template. After you generate the required list (see below), copy it first into Word and globally replace all space characters with underscores. Then copy the edited Word list into the export window on the special page, and export as usual.

By default, the template will generate a list of all pages except the job aids from this Library book. Additional optional parameters enable you to restrict the list to a subset of pages or to generate a list of pages from another book in the Documentation namespace.

Optional Template Parameters

The optional parameters, which you can use in combination, are:

• pattern — Specify the URL pattern, excluding the namespace and using the percentage sign as a wildcard to indicate the start and end of the pattern. You can use variables in the pattern specification. For example, assuming the template call is made from a page in the 8.5DRAFT version of the GIM Library book, the following template calls will provide identical lists of pages for tables that start with "SDR":
  • {{Template:PDM_GenerateExportList|pattern=%GIM:Library:Table-SDR%:8.5DRAFT}}
  • {{Template:PDM_GenerateExportList|pattern=%{{PONYDOCSPRODUCTSHORT}}:{{PONYDOCSMANUALSHORT}}:Table-SDR%:{{PONYDOCSVERSION}}}}
• notpattern — Specify a URL pattern you want to exclude, following the same rules as for pattern. JD note: To prevent overloading the template for a feature that may never be used, the template has been set so that you must also specify "pattern" if you want to use "notpattern". But let me know if "notpattern" on its own is required.
• category — Specify the exact category to include, without the square brackets. You can specify more than one category using "and" or "or" logic. For "and", use an ampersand without spaces; for "or", use the escaped pipe character ({{!}}).
• notcategory — Specify the exact category to exclude. You can specify only one category here.

Tip

If you are exporting existing table/view pages for update by the Dev SQL script conversion tool, without any placeholder pages for new tables/views, use the optional parameter |category=PDMs, so that you exclude pages that do not use the "master" templates such as {{PDMTable}} — for example, Table CALL_TYPE, which is a reserved table we do not document in full.
